Cove And Meadows Nursery

If you guys haven’t noticed, I have the tendency to blog things weeks, months, ahem.. a year (s) after they happen… I have good intentions and SO many things I’ve written in my head, taken pictures of, but they have a hard time landing here. I’ve fallen into a new habit this year of not posting things unless I can do them perfect. So then I never do. I think there’s a book on this, if you know what it is, please let me know,  because I clearly need to read it.
Thanks for putting up with me you guys!

I’m writing this a few days before we move, in a house that we’ve lived in for 9.5 years. I had plans to write a big farewell post here. And a house tour. But we all know how I roll, so maybe I’ll do a tour on my insta stories… Look out for that.
This change is exciting ( SO exciting and I know I’m very, very lucky) but, ugh. I  HATES change.  — Well, that isn’t exactly all true…  I love change when it comes to the seasons, thinking outside the box, seeing new places, bettering myself, growing, changing, adapting.. all those things… But not when it comes to my safe haven like my home and family.. And saying goodbye to the ” baby house” – The place I’ve grown and brought all my babies home to. Watched them learn to crawl, take their first steps,.. The walls that have held and housed us all, and the memories that they hold. The glue that’s still on the window from Levi’s first Birthday party, the mark on the ceiling from the time we decided it was a good idea to buy a giant Christmas tree… The wear on the carpet leading to the nursery, where I swear I’ve walked a thousand sleepless miles… I feel like I finally found myself over all these years. I was 23 when we moved here, a baby myself. I felt true legit happiness here, even in my mundane days. Motherhood will do that to you.

Our new house isn’t ready yet, the long ( very looonngg ) winter really delayed us, so we’re moving into a rental until it’s ready. We were originally supposed to move into my girlfriend Chelsea’s beautiful bed and breakfast. We were SO excited as it is just up the road from us and on acreage and to be honest,  what I was  really looking forward to was late summer nights drinking wine together… But then an opportunity came up to move into my other girlfriend Joni’s Grandpas house and we couldn’t pass- up the opportunity. My goodness, I am just so thankful for people that love us so well.

Now, this lil room. So much thought and heart went into it. It was the first time in my pregnancies where we found out what we were having ( I would link our gender reveal here, but dang – add that one to the list too !)
The whole finding out you are having twins things really threw me a life curve ball ( now called best surprise EVER ) So I really savoured dreaming and creating this little space and being able to imagine two little people in here. If you have been following my blog for awhile you’ll know that Cove and Meadow were named even before they were conceived, so their names were definitely a huge inspiration. Plus I wanted it to work for both a boy and a girl so I added some sequin curtains, florals, and then greens and neutral tones.

I wanted this picture wall to carry meaning so theres a black and white vintage picture of Huntington beach ( Cove’s middle name is Huntington ) And the bird is for Meadow’s middle name ( Nightingale ) The words ” It was always you” literally made me cry when I first saw it. Because these babies, although a surprise at the time were just so meant to be apart of this family.
This has been such a special little space to share memories with the last two years. Although they won’t remember it, I will always hold this time in my life so close to my heart.

I’ve gotten a lot of questions about this wall quote so here is all the info: It’s from Urban Wall decals,  and it’s a custom order. It’s amazing because its completely removable and won’t ruin your walls. I found these words in the hunger games books. It’s actually called ” rue’s lullaby” Here are the words ( I added Cove to it and bahhhhh – , it still makes me cry !)

“Deep in the meadow, under the willow
A bed of grass, a soft green pillow
Lay down your head, and close your sleepy eyes
And when again they open, the sun will rise.

Here it’s safe, here it’s warm
Here the daisies guard you from every harm
Here your dreams are sweet and tomorrow brings them true
Here is the place where I love you.

Deep in the meadow, hidden far away
A cloak of leaves, a moonbeam ray
Forget your woes and let your troubles lay
And when again it’s morning, they’ll wash away.

Here it’s safe, here it’s warm
Here the daisies guard you from every harm
Here your dreams are sweet and tomorrow brings them true
Here is the place where I love you.

Deep in the meadow, hidden far away
