Oh the summer memories ! As I write this the wind is blowing, the rain is hitting the windows and the outside just looks brown and green-less. It sure is cosy,  and I do love the seasons where we live and how it makes you appreciate what just was and what lies ahead ( currently dreaming big on spring, lilacs, brighter evenings and dinner outside weather )
I was talking with a girlfriend the other day and we realized that every year we get  ” A bad case of the January’s ” – You know – that weird in between place of a new year and fresh start, reflecting on the year ya just had, wondering what 2017 will bring and the high / low of Christmas. Please tell me I’m not the only one who suffers from this ! But I felt a shift last week, the heaviness of winter has lifted, the birds have begun singing again and my tulips are starting to grow.
And all the people said Amen.

One of my dearest girlfriends welcomed her third baby boy this last summer so we celebrated with an outdoor party.
Three of us made it all come together and honestly you guys,  it was SUPER easy! Cost almost nothing and made for a nice, relaxed evening of mingling ( I think we may have stayed up till 1 am ! )

Details:

One of the ways we saved a ton of money was using furniture and decor from our own houses. My sister in law and I laughed that we felt like we were moving out our entire house, but we created the boho look we wanted that way ( I’ve linked everything above ) Next we got some pallets ( free because they were slightly broken, but it didn’t matter or make a difference to us ) Stacked 4 of them on a large rug, layered some textiles ( one was literally a towel! ) set the table, used some flowers from our gardens but did purchase some eucalyptus to make the table smell yummy and give the look we were trying to create. We bought donuts, cookies and a cake and got the other close friends attending to bring a bottle of wine and an appy.

I don’t know about you guys, but I love celebrating others and making them feel extra special.  I feel so lucky to have been treated in the same way over the years. Celebrating those monumental moments for one another and ” showing up” during good times and bad. I truly believe you get what you give in life and a little bit of love goes a long way.
XO, Michele
